ARRIVALS FROM THE UK - REVISED INSTRUCTIONS

 Filenews 23 December 2021

Revised guidance for arrivals from the UK has been published by the Ministry of Health.

Due to the rapid increase of cases with the Omikron variant in the United Kingdom, all passengers entering the Republic of Cyprus from the United Kingdom, over 12 years of age and regardless of vaccination coverage or previous illness, must apply the following:

  • Until the pcr is issued their result they are obliged to remain in self-isolation in their place of residence. In case of a positive result, they remain strictly in self-isolation and await instructions from the Unit of Epidemiological Surveillance & Control of Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health.
  • Upon arrival they will receive a package containing 5 self-tests, which they will use even if they have a negative result in the PCR test that was done to them at the airport. They perform a self-test every day after their arrival with the exception of the third day (see next paragraph). In case of a positive result, they contact their Personal Doctor in Cyprus to refer them for a free PCR examination to the Public Health Clinics of their province of residence. If they do not have a Personal Doctor in Cyprus, then they contact directly the Coordination of Public Health Clinics in the email coordination.iatreiadygeias@moh.gov.cy sending their identification details (name, surname, phone number, id number, date of birth and province), as well as a photo of their positive self-test.
  • In the 72 hours from their arrival, given that in the previous days they had a negative PCR result at the airport and in the self-tests, they will have to conduct a free rapid test at the Mobile Control Units of the Ministry of Health by presenting their boarding pass and ID card or privately. The result should be sent to the email monada2@mphs.moh.gov.cy

It is recommended that during the first days of the arrival of citizens in the Republic of Cyprus, they should be particularly careful and have limited contacts, that they observe personal protection measures (use of masks, hand hygiene, social distancing) and avoid any physical contact with people belonging to vulnerable groups.
