706 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - MONDAY

The death of one person from COVID-19 and 706 new cases (positivity rate of 0.70%) was announced on Monday by the Ministry of Health. In the hospitals of the Organization of State Health Services, 116 patients are hospitalized, of which 41 are in serious condition. 75% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:

- Man, aged 88 years, who ended up on December 6 at the General Hospital of Famagusta.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 602, of which:

  • 387 men (64.3%), and
  • 215 women (35.7%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 75.7 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 116 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 41 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 41 patients who are in serious condition, 17 are intubated, 2 are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 22 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 100,991 diagnoses performed, 9,099 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 91,892 by the antigen rapid test method, 706 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 32 cases from 1,307 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 22 cases from 5,310 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 97 cases from 1,776 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 24 cases from 379 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 412 cases from 61,481 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 119 cases from 30,411 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 0 cases from 327 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
