UPDATED DATA ON CORONAVIRUS DEATHS - NUMBER INCREASED TO 587

The Ministry of Health proceeded to update the database it maintains on patient deaths, having recorded and verified all the data declared in the previous period to the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit, according to the regular checks of the data of the Health Monitoring Unit.

As part of this screening, it appears that the total number of patients who died with an underlying cause of COVID-19 as of November 10, 2021 is 587 and not 577, as stated in yesterday's regular update.

Specifically, the 10 deaths reported late relate to:

  1. A man, aged 84, who ended up on December 5, 2020, at Famagusta General Hospital.
  2. A man, aged 73, who ended up on December 14, 2020, in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  3. A man, aged 86, who ended up on February 11, 2021, at the Limassol General Hospital.
  4. Man, aged 60 years, who ended up on May 21, 2021 at Limassol General Hospital.
  5. A man, aged 67, who ended up on July 14, 2021 in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  6. A woman, aged 71, who ended up on July 28, 2021 in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  7. Woman, aged 73 years, who ended up on July 31, 2021 at the Limassol General Hospital.
  8. Man, aged 75 years, who ended up on August 15, 2021 at the Limassol General Hospital.
  9. Woman, aged 70 years, who ended up on October 4, 2021 at the Limassol General Hospital.
  10. Man, aged 61 years, who ended up on October 12, 2021 at the Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, from today's daily announcement, new deaths with an underlying cause of death, COVID-19, will be added to the total number of 587. Of these, 376 (64%) are men and 211 (36%) women, while the average age of the deceased is 76 years.

The Ministry of Health updates its databases at regular intervals, aiming at the correct and complete recording of epidemiological surveillance data. For the sake of transparency, the Ministry of Health will update any new data it records.
