Filenews 30 November 2021
The two Russian women, whose fate has been missing since November 17th, had gone to an appointment from an online advert with a rough fee, with the Police holding a Syrian and looking for a second one.
Yesterday's all-day searches in a wooded area in Kato Amiantos, focusing on a couple's country house from Nicosia, were fruitless, in order to locate the two women, while the investigations were extended to Larnaca in various premises in order to locate testimony and evidence. As "F" wrote yesterday, traces of blood were found at the cottage, which was identified with one of the disappeared, which has now triggered scenarios for criminal acts behind their disappearance. Newer information of "F" reports that traces of blood were found on the stairs leading to the basement of the country house as well as in the bucket (handful) excavator. This led the Police to form the scenario of criminal action with the disappearance of the corpses with the help of an excavator. However, it is so far unknown which of the two missing women was identified with the DNA method, since they lived in the same apartment and so no safe conclusions can be drawn. This will be done by taking genetic material from their relatives.
Information tells us that the appointment of the 32-year-old Syros, who is in custody for a kidnapping case, was booked by phone from an advert and agreed on the amount of €2,500 for a week or so and a second person would participate. According to evidence being investigated by the Police, the two Russian women went to the cottage and stayed there for three days, from Monday to Wednesday. The 32-year-old then claims to have taken them to Larnaca, where they live.
The use of the visa
One element that is considered to help the investigations of the investigating authorities is the following: The Police have identified from their investigations, the use of the credit card of one of the two women on three occasions, on the same day that as reported by the 32-year-old they left the cottage. Twice the card was used at petrol stations for small amounts (€20 each time) and the third at a kiosk in Larnaca. The 32-year-old interrogated admitted that leaving the cottage in Kato Amiantos, he got the credit card and the identity card of a Russian woman. In fact, CCTV footage shows him going to gas stations and putting in fuel.
This move is not excluded by the investigators to be related to the intention to show that the two foreigners actually left the cottage and returned to Larnaca, something that is not confirmed so far with evidence. Also, while the 32-year-old reports that they returned to Larnaca, from the tests that took place it appears that the position of the phone of one of them is last located in an area outside Limassol.
Second Syros
The 32-year-old in the interrogation has mentioned the name of a 23-year-old compatriot who may know something about the two women. That is why the Larnaka IWU proceeded yesterday to issue a warrant for his arrest, in order to be interrogated in the case.
Extensive trace research
Yesterday, after confirming the results of the Institute of Neurology and Genetics that the blood found in the cottage in K. Amiantos belongs to one of the disappeared, a large operation was set up to locate traces of the two women.
According to Police spokesman Christos Andreou, information about their disappearance reached authorities on November 19, two days after they were last seen. "All protocols were followed for the missing persons," Mr Andreou said. Members of EMAK, specially trained detective dogs of the Police, took part in the investigations in the area and a drone was used.
The 32-year-old was well versed in the area, since he was performing construction work on the country house under construction at the location "Kardama" of Amiantos and had access to it without the presence of its owner, who lives in Nicosia.
Video of the cottage
Authorities are also processing videos posted on the personal account held by one of the two missing women on social media, which shows the 32-year-old suspect sitting on the couch of the country house with one of the two girls. That is why the Police take for granted the presence of the two women in the cottage under construction at the time when their disappearance was reported.
The mark for extinction
According to the police statement, the missing women are ALRAEESI KHAIAT, 43 years old and MARIIA GAZIBAGANDOVA, 33 years old, both from Russia.
