It is only a matter of time before the decision to vaccinate children between the ages of 5 and 11 is considered, estimates the member of the Advisory Scientific Committee for the coronavirus, Kostas Constantinou.
Speaking on state radio, Mr. Constantinou noted that he does not know whether in Wednesday's Cabinet of Ministers, a proposal will be made for vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 years, but he indicated that sooner or later this will happen.
Regarding the OMIKRON mutation, Mr. Constantinou stressed that Cyprus should be ready to face the worst-case scenario.
Mr. Constantinou pointed out the need to tighten the measures at the entry gates of the Republic, in order to allow the delay of the arrival of the Omikron variant in the country.
In this way, he added, scientists will be given time to understand how the new variant will be treated, which based on the first indications is very infectious and may escape vaccines and natural disease.
