The major projects that are still pending in Paphos, projects of hyperlocal importance that are in the process of being implemented or planned and issues related to the operation of Paphos Airport, were at the heart of today's tour of the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Communications and Works in Paphos.
The contacts of the members of the Committee, which were accompanied by the four Deputies of Paphos, began with a visit to the international airport of the province during which issues of further reinforcement of the flight schedule to and from Paphos were discussed with representatives of the managing company and the airlines.
This was followed by a visit to the unfinished project of the new boulevard that will connect Paphos airport with the tourist area of Kato Paphos and the situation created by the refusal of environmental authorities to consent to the promotion and completion of the project was examined on the spot.
The Transport Committee then held a meeting at the Department of Public Works of Paphos and the Archaeological Museum of Pafos, which reopened its gates recently after a long renovation and completed the contacts with a visit to the location Potima in Kissonerga, where the execution of the major project of the largest marina to be built in Cyprus is planned.
The member of the Commission, Marinos Mousiouttas, stressed in his statements that the aim of the contacts is to enable the Parliamentary Committee to shape its recommendations and to press where it should be so that all issues should be up to the European level.
"The Commission will prepare a note for all that it examined in Paphos", he stressed, "and will try with the competent Ministries to promote issues as soon as possible, so as to implement either road projects or improvement of services, or problems that exist at the airport.
