The Prefect of Pafos signed the contracts for the third phase of the redevelopment of the "Meteora" of Episkopi
The contracts for the construction of the third phase of the redevelopment of the area of "Meteora" of Episkopi with the successful bidder, the consortium, were signed by the Prefect of Pafos in the presence of the Commune of Episkopi. The amount of the contract is approximately €314,000 and the duration of the project is eight months.
Speaking to "F", the Prefect of Pafos, Mary Lambrou, stressed that it is the last phase of the whole project of redevelopment and promotion of the area with the unique beauty and ecological importance rock in the community of Episkopi.
"The first phase was implemented years ago for about€ 250,000, while the second phase was completed in July 2018 for the amount of €267,000," she said. ''Scholars of all three phases are the Architectural Workshop of Agisilaou and Kalavas. The first two phases were financed by the State Budget, and the last phase is funded by €200,000 from the European leader programme and the rest from the State Budget through the Pafos District Administration".
The "Meteora" of Episkopi, stressed the Prefect of Pafos, is an imposing rock of great importance and a pole of attraction for many visitors. It is the largest monolithous volume of Cyprus, with a height of 70 metres and a length of 250 metres and is one of the most interesting geological formations of the island with huge environmental importance in flora and fauna of protected species, he observed.
"The giant rock is part of the Geological Complex of Mammonies and has been characterized as a protected area, due to its enormous environmental importance in rare species", concluded Mary Lambrou.
