As of today, the process of administering a booster dose to people aged 50 years and over, to people who were vaccinated with Johnson&Johnson and to people with diabetes begins, said the Communication Advisor of the Minister of Health Konstantinos Athanasiou.
It clarified that for people aged 50 years and over, the booster dose is administered on the completion of six months from the initial vaccination.
For the booster dose, a vaccine of mRNA technology, i.e. Pfizer and Moderna, is administered.
We should clarify, he noted, that people who received the Pfizer vaccine in the original vaccination will have the same vaccine as the booster dose respectively. This also applies to Moderna's vaccine where people will receive the same vaccine.
For people who were vaccinated with AstraZeneca or Moderna they will have the choice between mRNA technology, namely Pfizer or Moderna.
It is very important to say, Mr. Athanasiou continued, that beneficiaries can be vaccinated in the free-attendance vaccination centres operating in all provinces. The important thing is that there is no need for any appointment and they can come from Monday to Thursday from 8 am to one o'clock in the afternoon. On Friday, people who are not beneficiaries of the GHS can attend. For Paphos the vaccination centre is Paphos General Hospital.
Of course, he explained, those who wish can arrange an appointment through the Vaccination Portal that is available so that they can go to the Vaccination Centres at a specific time.
Finally, Mr. Athanasiou mentioned that for the initiation of a booster dose in people with obesity, a relevant announcement will be issued in the coming days.
