The number of new positive cases of coronavirus has risen to 264 in the last 24 hours, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Health. At the same time, another 10 cases were identified in schools.
Specifically:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 587.
- 80 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 32 are in serious condition. 62.5% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
- A total of 58,329 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test method.
- 264 (positivity rate: 0.45%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 127,036.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 587, of which:
- 376 men (64%), and
- 211 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 80 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 32 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 32 patients who are in serious condition, nine are intubated, three are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 20 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 58,329 diagnoses made, 4,154 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 54,175 by the antigen rapid test method, 264 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 44 cases from 561 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 4 cases from 1,458 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 35 cases from 1,761 samples taken through private initiative.
- 128 cases from 32,888 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 53 cases from 21,287 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 272 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 102 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
