The Ministry of Health announces that today, November 2, 2021, one person has died of COVID-19, while 249 are the new cases of the disease.
Specifically:
- One person died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 575.
- 70 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 26 are in serious condition. 60% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 5 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
- A total of 52,138 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 249 (positivity rate: 0.48%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 124,973.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:
- A man, aged 64, who ended up on November 1st in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 575, of which:
- 367 men (64%), and
- 208 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.1 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 70 patients of the COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 26 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 26 patients who are in serious condition, five are intubated, three are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 18 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 52,138 diagnoses performed, 4,718 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 47,420 by the antigen rapid test method, 249 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 37 cases from 405 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 6 cases from 2,260 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 33 cases from 1,505 samples taken through private initiative.
- 8 cases from 266 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case from 282 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 121 cases from 28,174 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 43 cases from 19,246 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
