No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 588, according to today's announcement by the Ministry of Health. At the same time, as reported by the Ministry of Health, 218 (positivity rate: 0.45%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 127,478.
Also 82 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 32 are in serious condition. 62.2% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination. 3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit. A total of 48,428 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 588, of which:
- 376 men (64%), and
- 212 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 82 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 32 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 32 patients who are in serious condition, ten are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 20 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 48,428 diagnoses performed, 4,342 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 44,086 by the antigen rapid test method, 218 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 5 cases from 140 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 42 cases from 2,217 samples taken through private initiative.
- 2 cases from 178 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 107 cases from 33,544 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 62 cases from 10,542 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 1,792 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 15 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
