The Ministry of Health announces that today, November 6, 2021, one person has died from COVID-19, while 174 are the new cases of the disease.
Specifically:
- One person died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 576.
- 74 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 23 are in serious condition. 66.24% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 1 post-COVID patient who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
- A total of 46,157 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 174 (positivity rate: 0.38%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 125,814.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:
- A man, aged 83, who ended up on November 5 at the Limassol General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 576, of which:
- 368 men (64%), and
- 208 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.1 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 74 patients of the COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 23 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 23 patients who are in serious condition, seven are intubated, one is hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 15 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 46,157 diagnoses performed, 3,891 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 42,266 by the antigen rapid test method, 174 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 6 cases from 87 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 4 cases from 1,802 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 23 cases from 1,761 samples taken through private initiative.
- 5 cases from 201 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 77 cases from 32,388 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 59 cases from 9,878 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 40 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
