In electricity pricing, there is also the pricing of the special tariff 08 to which specific groups of the population are entitled and is about 20% lower than the pricing of normal domestic use, reports the Cyprus Consumers Association.
In a statement, the Cyprus Consumers' Association states that "the cost of electricity, especially this year, has risen to levels that only few people can respond to", adding that "the problem cannot be addressed immediately and effectively".
According to the Association, the categories entitled to this tariff are a large or five-member family that receives Child Benefit from the Welfare Benefits Administration Service of the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance for three dependent children or more and with an annual mixed family income of up to €51,258, recipients of Public Assistance from the Social Welfare Services of the Ministry of Labour, beneficiaries of a Guaranteed Minimum Income provided by the Welfare Benefits Management Service of the Ministry of Labour, recipients of a Severe Motor Disability benefit from the Department of Social Integration of People with Disabilities of the Ministry of Labour and recipients of the Care Allowance to Quadriplegic Persons from the Department of Social Integration of People with Disabilities of the Ministry of Labour.
In addition, the association states that recipients of the Paraplegic Care Allowance for People from the Department of Social Integration of People with Disabilities of the Ministry of Labour, dialysis kidney patients who receive a Mobility Allowance from the Department of Social Integration of People with Disabilities of the Ministry of Labour and people suffering from multiple sclerosis (multiple sclerosis) who are registered members of the Pancyprian Multiple Sclerosis Association are also entitled to this tariff.
