The Ministry of Health is proceeding with the vaccination coverage with a booster dose of people aged 65 years and over, thus completing the population group based on an age criterion.

As stated in a relevant announcement, following a decision of the Council of Ministers, vaccination with a 3rd dose of specific groups of the population continues in our country based on age criteria, but also their vulnerability against the virus.

The process of administering the 3rd dose has been completed in nursing homes, while the gradual vaccination of health professionals and people belonging to the identified vulnerable groups continues. To date, the 3rd dose was received by 25,886 beneficiaries, who currently have priority for vaccination with a booster dose, according to the decision of the Council of Ministers.

The Ministry of Health, implementing the decision of the Council of Ministers, proceeds to the vaccination coverage with a booster dose of people aged 65 years and over, thus completing the population group based on an age criterion.

More specifically, from Wednesday, October 13, 2021, an appointment for vaccination will be able to be arranged through the Vaccination Portal by citizens aged 65 years and over and given that a period of six months has elapsed since the date of vaccination with the 2nd dose. In addition to arranging an appointment through the Vaccination Portal, beneficiaries will be able to be served from October 13th through the walk-in vaccination centres operating in all districts, every Monday to Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. [For Paphos this is Paphos General Hospital].  If you have had a flu jab, please allow 15 days before having your Covid booster jab.

Finally, it is noted that on the basis of continuous evaluation of data from Cyprus and the international literature, the Minister of Health, Mr. Michalis Hadjipantelas, has asked the members of the Advisory Scientific Committee to study the data and send within the week their recommendations for the next steps regarding the extension of the administration of the 3rd dose to other categories of citizens.
