TRILATERAL CYPRUS, GREECE, EGYPT FOR LNG TRANSFER

The developments on the Cyprus issue, the cooperation in the field of Energy, the regional developments and the review of the course of the trilateral cooperation between Cyprus, Greece and Egypt, are among the issues that will concern the work of the 9th Summit of the leaders of the three countries that will take place on October 19th in Athens. In addition, on the sidelines of the tripartite meeting, a round table discussion will be held, in which representatives of energy companies and representatives of shipping companies on the transport of natural gas (LNG) will be held for each country.

The President of the Republic, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, the President of Egypt, Mr. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and the Prime Minister of Greece, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will participate in the Summit.

During the proceedings of the Summit, the three leaders, heads of delegations of the three countries, among others, will review the progress of the trilateral cooperation and ways to further strengthen it, and will discuss issues related to migration, joint actions to address the coronavirus and the effects of climate change, regional issues, including developments in the Cyprus issue, Energy issues, such as electricity interconnection and gas transmission projects, cooperation issues of the Diaspora of the three countries, as well as EU-Egypt relations.

Within the framework of the Meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Electrical Interconnection and a new Memorandum of Understanding on Diaspora issues will be signed at trilateral level, which will establish a common framework for action with programs for the further coordination of Dispersion organizations in important decision-making centres abroad.

The Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Mrs. Natasa Pilidou, the Government Spokesman, Mr. Marios Pelekanos, the Commissioner of the Presidency, Mr. Fotis Fotiou, the Ambassador of the Republic of Athens, Mr. Kyriakos Kenevezos, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Cornelius Cornelius, and officials will also participate in the proceedings of the tripartite Summit.

In addition, on the sidelines of the tripartite meeting, a round table discussion will be held, in which representatives of energy companies and representatives of shipping companies on the transport of natural gas (LNG) will be held for each country.
