For a second theft from a goldsmith's shop, the two suspected men, aged 33 and 50, who were in custody in connection with the investigated case of theft from a goldsmith's shop in Nicosia, were re-arrested. The second theft was allegedly committed in a goldsmith's shop in the Famagusta district and is being investigated by the Famagusta IRS.
According to the evidence under investigation, around 6.40 on the evening of Monday, October 11, a suspicious man and a suspicious woman entered the goldsmith's shop and asked the owner to show them various items of jewellery. After the goldsmith showed various items of jewellery to the two suspects for about ten minutes, they walked away, with the goldsmith then finding that a gold neck chain had been stolen from the store.
Police examinations revealed evidence that the two suspected men aged 33 and 50, conspired with the suspected woman, aged 37, and committed the theft. A judicial arrest warrant has been issued against the 37-year-old, on the basis of which she is wanted.
It is worth noting that a host of cases of burglary and theft, embezzlement of money, armed robbery, and gang theft are being investigated against the 33-year-old by the authorities of Austria and Germany, with the Austrian authorities having already issued a European arrest warrant.
In Austria, a total of 14 cases of burglaries and thefts committed in February and March 2021 are being investigated, while in Germany, a total of 16 other cases of burglaries and thefts, theft and embezzlement of money, gang theft, as well as armed robbery committed between 2017 and 2020 are being investigated. A total of ten suspected persons are alleged to be members of a criminal organisation related to the commission of the offences in the two countries.
The 33-year-old and the 50-year-old had been arrested in the previous days by members of the Police - specifically the Nicosia ILO - and were being detained by court orders, following evidence that emerged against them for the theft of two bracelets from a goldsmith's shop in Nicosia.
The theft in Nicosia was also committed on Monday, October 11th, with the alleged perpetrators being a man and a woman who entered the goldsmith's shop and after they inspected various items of jewellery with the goldsmith, they then walked away. After their departure, the goldsmith found the theft of the two bracelets and proceeded to a complaint to the IWT of Nicosia.
For the theft from the goldsmith's shop in Nicosia, the Police also want a 30-year-old suspect, a 37-year-old suspect woman, as well as an unidentified woman at this stage. Photographs of the three suspects, along with the details of the 30-year-old and the 37-year-old, were released by the Police, with the aim of collecting information that may lead to their identification and arrest.
