HUNTING SEASON STARTS 31 OCTOBER

 Filenews 27 October 2021

An appeal to hunters to be especially careful during their excursions, in view of the start of the hunting season of epidemic prey next Sunday, October 31, 2021, is made by the Department of Forests, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.

As stated in a statement, hunters should completely avoid actions and activities that are likely to cause a fire, as due to the prevailing weather conditions, the risk of explosion and spread of forest fire remains extremely high.

Therefore, he makes a very strong appeal to hunters to avoid lighting a fire as well as throwing cigarette butts and lit matches.

At the same time, the Department of Forests recalls that lighting a fire without a permit in or at a distance of two kilometres from the outskirts of state forests is an offence that, according to the "Forests Law of 2012", is punishable by imprisonment of up to 10 years or a fine of up to € 50,000 or both penalties together. It is also an offence to light a fire in rural areas which, according to the "Forest Fire Preventing Fires in the Countryside Law of 1988", is punishable by imprisonment of up to 5 years or a fine of up to €20,000 or both penalties together. Lighting a fire is allowed only in the barbecues of the excursion areas of the Department of Forests.
