FORESTRY DEPT TO PROVIDE 60,000 FREE SAPLINGS TO PUBLIC BODIES & ORGANISED GROUPS

sts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that in the context of the implementation of the Ministerial Decision for the free allocation of seedlings, in order to tackle climate change, entitled "I plant for the Climate", it will provide free saplings to the beneficiaries again this year. Up to 60,000 saplings are to be provided from the nurseries of the Department of Forests.

It is noted that beneficiaries of free seedlings are ONLY public bodies and organized groups of the following categories:

- Local Government (Municipalities and Communities)

- Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth (School Units)

- Other Government Services (Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, Police, National Guard, Hospitals, etc.)

- Ecclesiastical Authorities (Churches, Chapels, Monasteries)

- Other Organized Groups and Citizens' Initiatives that have been proven to have secured suitable land for tree planting.

The period of tree planting is associated with weather conditions. For this year, the receipt of the approved saplings by the applicants will begin on November 1st and will be completed at the end of February 2022. Planting work must be carried out within the period November 2021 - February 2022.

Applications can be submitted to the local forest stations in printed form or by e-mail until Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
