An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale occurred south of Crete, according to the Institute of Geodynamics of the National Observatory of Athens. It should be noted that it was also felt in Cyprus.
According to the revised solution of the Institute of Geodynamics, the earthquake had a focal depth of 8.2 km and occurred 23 km east of Zakros. It was particularly felt and took people out of the houses and buildings, while as the mayor of Sitia, Giorgos Zervakis, mentioned, the strong earthquake has caused damage.

Fire Brigade: Church collapse and landslides - No mention of entrapments
A spokesman for the Fire Brigade, speaking to the iefimerida.gr, claimed that until this moment (time: 13:03), there is no report of human entrapment.

An earthquake of 4.5 on the Richter scale occurred in Karpathos just a few minutes after the strong earthquake of 6.3 on the Richter scale off Crete.
According to the Institute of Geodynamics, the epicenter of the earthquake is located 9 km. northwest of Karpathos, while the focal depth is estimated at 12.6 km.
