One person has died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 559, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
58 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 22 are in serious condition. 62.07% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
10 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
A total of 64,004 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
170 (positivity rate: 0.27%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 121,534.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:
- Woman, aged 57, who ended up on October 8th in the Intensive Care Unit of the Limassol General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 559, of which:
- 354 men (63%), and
- 205 women (37%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.2 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 58 patients of the COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 22 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 22 patients who are in serious condition, 10 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 11 in an Increased Care Unit.
Of the 64,004 diagnoses made, 5,843 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 58,161 by the antigen rapid test method, 170 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 17 cases from 309 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 6 cases from 3,246 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 38 cases from 1,730 samples taken through private initiative.
- 6 cases from 229 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case from 329 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 73 cases from 36,892 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 29 cases from 21,269 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
