An increase of cases is observed in the ages of 10-19 years in Cyprus, according to the National Report of the Ministry of Health with cases showing a new increase in the Districts of Famagusta and Paphos. At the same time, as reported by the Ministry of Health, stabilization shows the cases of the last 7 days according to the National Report of the Ministry of Health.
At the same time, the fact that in the last 14 days the percentage of diagnoses that have a travel history, reaches 20.3%
The situation in public hospitals is also positive as there is no particular change in hospitalizations.
Detailed data of the Ministry of Health
- As of October 11, 2021, 120,666 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the Republic of Cyprus, with 559 deaths due to COVID-19 (COVID-19 mortality: 0.5%).
- The cumulative 14-day incidence of COVID-19 (diagnosed 14-day cases per 100,000 inhabitants) is 151.5.
- In the last 14 days (September 28 - October 11, 2021) 1,345 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded: The median age of COVID-19 cases was 34 years (Intraquartile range: 21-47 years), 51.5% is for men (n= 693) and 48.5% for women (n=652).
- Based on the epidemiological history, 20.3% (n=268) were cases with a recent travel history, while 79.7% (n=1,053) are cases of domestic transmission – out of 1,321 cases (98.2%) with the relevant information available.
- As of October 13, 2021, 62 people with COVID-19 (diagnosed until October 11) were hospitalized (based on registered data and including those discharged, transferred or deceased on that day). Their median age was 64 years (Intraquartile range: 54 – 73 years), with 61.3% (n =38) concerning men and 35.1% (n = 20) people from the Limassol district (from 57 people with available the relevant information). In total, 26 (53.1%) people with COVID-19 who were hospitalized reported underlying diseases (out of 49 people with the relevant information available).
- According to the registered data, 12 people (diagnosed until October 11) were in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – 11 were intubated. The median age of COVID-19 patients in ICU was 68 years (Intraquartile range: 58-73 years), while 9 cases (75%) concern men.
Epidemiological data are subject to change due to the rapidly evolving situation
• In the last 14 days, 68,093 molecular tests (PCR) (7,668.1 per 100,000 population) and 633,965 antigen rapid tests (71,392.5 per 100,000 population) have been performed.
Epidemiological Data in the Republic of Cyprus The analyses are based on laboratory-confirmed cases that are notified to the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health. As of October 11, 2021, 120,666 cases of COVID-19 have been laboratory diagnosed (Figure 1, 2 and 3).
In the last 14 days (September 28 - October 11, 2021) 1,345 cases of COVID-19 have been laboratory diagnosed. The cumulative 14-day incidence of COVID-19 (diagnosed 14-day cases per 100,000 inhabitants), an indicator that reflects the rate of active COVID-19 cases in the population (prevalence of active disease), is 151.5 per 100,000 inhabitants.
Characteristics of confirmed cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in the last 14 days Among 1,345 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed as of September 28, 2021, 51.5% are in men (n=693) and 48.5% in women (n=652). By age groups: 299 infants, children and adolescents 0-19 years old (22.2%), 886 adults aged 20-59 years (65.9%), 160 people aged 60 years and over (11.9%).
The median age of all COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days is 34 years (Intraquartile range 21-47 years). The median age of adults (≥ 18 years) with COVID-19 is 38 years (Intraquartile range 29-53 years).
Among the cases diagnosed in the last 14 days, out of 1,303 (96.9%) cases with available information, 359 (27.6%) had a place of residence in the Limassol district, 331 (25.4%) in the Nicosia district, 230 (17.7%) in the Pafos district, 229 (17.6%) in the Larnaca district, 145 (11.1%) in the free Famagusta district and 9 incidents (0.7%) relate to the British bases or where there was no information regarding residency.

Clinical Features
In the last 14 days (September 28 - October 11, 2021), of 1,011 cases (75.2%) with available information, 3.7% (n=37) did not reported any symptoms at diagnosis, while 96.3% (n=974) reported at least one symptom.
Underlying diseases
In the last 14 days (September 28 - October 11, 2021), of the 984 cases (73.2%) with available information, 139 people with COVID-19 (14.1%) reported at least one underlying disease.
