One person has died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 567, according to today's announcement by the Ministry of Health. At the same time, as reported by 175 (positivity rate: 0.32%), new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 123,171.
57 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 23 are in serious condition. 59.65% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
A total of 55,018 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:
- A man, aged 70 years, who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 567, of which:
- 361 men (64%), and
- 206 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.1 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 57 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 23 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 23 patients who are in serious condition, eight are intubated, two are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 13 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 55,018 diagnoses made, 5,385 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 49,633 by the antigen rapid test method, 175 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 27 cases from 489 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 8 cases from 2,727 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 25 cases from 1,843 samples taken through private initiative.
- 3 cases from 204 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 80 cases from 29,126 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 32 cases from 20,507 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 122 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
