Two more people have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 564, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
It is noted that 57 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 23 are in serious condition. 60% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
In addition, 8 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
A total of 66,954 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test, of which 166 (positivity rate: 0.25%) of new cases of COVID-19 have been identified.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern:
- A man, aged 75,who ended up on October 16th in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- A man, aged 56, who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 564, of which:
- 358 men (63%), and
- 206 women (37%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.2 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 57 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 23 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 23 patients who are in serious condition, 10 are intubated in an Intensive Care Unit and 13 in an Increased Care Unit.
C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 66,954 diagnoses performed, 5,934 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 61,020 by the antigen rapid test, 166 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 25 cases from 403 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 8 cases from 3,378 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 16 cases from 1,382 samples taken through private initiative.
- 4 cases from 272 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 82 cases from 39,335 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 31 cases from 21,685 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 499 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
