The Ministry of Health announces that today, October 26, 2021:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 570.
- 57 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 18 are in serious condition. 63.16% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 3 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
- A total of 51,892 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 162 (positivity rate: 0.31%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 123,708.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 570, of which:
- 363 men (64%), and
- 207 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.1 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 57 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 18 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 18 patients who are in serious condition, six are intubated, four are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and eight are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail, the situation in the hospitals is the following:
C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 51,892 diagnoses made, 4,228 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 47,664 by the antigen rapid test method, 162 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 27 cases from 319 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 9 cases from 1,940 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 26 cases from 1,634 samples taken through private initiative.
- 4 cases from 203 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 58 cases from 27,624 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 38 cases from 20,040 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 132 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
