With winter being quite close, vaccinations against the coronavirus are progressing rapidly, so that we can prevent another wave of transmission. Cyprus is at quite good levels, both in the percentages of the adult population that completed its vaccination regimen, and in the percentage that was vaccinated with one dose compared to other countries in Europe and worldwide.
According to the latest ECDC data, the percentage of the adult population vaccinated with at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine stands at 79.4%. The first country is Portugal with 96.9% followed by France with 93.8%, Norway with 92.4% and Italy with 92.2%. The vaccination rate in Greece at least with one dose is 68.6%.
On the other hand, the percentage of the adult population that has completed their vaccination is at 75.5%, according to ECDC data. The first country is Iceland with 90.5%, in second place are Malta and Ireland with 89.9% each, followed by Denmark in third and fourth place with 87.6% and Portugal with 87.3%.
Compared to other countries of the world, according to ourworldindata data, the percentage of the population fully vaccinated in the United Arab Emirates is at 79%, in Qatar at 76%, in Japan at 53%, in Turkey at 48% and in Russia at 28%.
Noteworthy are the percentages of people over the age of 80 who have carried out both doses of vaccine. For example, this percentage in Cyprus reaches 96.9%, while countries such as Austria, Denmark, Iceland, Ireland, Malta, Portugal and Spain have reached the absolute 100%.
