SALARIES IN CYPRUS

Filenews 26 September 2021 -  by Theano Thiopoulou

Cypriot companies are looking for staff to employ but they do not find it easy, argue the employers' associations, on the occasion of recent data from Eurostat and the Statistical Service on job vacancies. The issue is not only where there are vacancies but also what wages an economy offers. According to research on European websites, which provide data for all countries, a taste is given of the fees granted and which of course depend on experience-training.

The survey on the Eures website, the European job mobility portal, shows which professions are in demand in Cyprus and paves the way for those interested from abroad to look for a job here. According to the latest data cited by Eures for the first three months of 2020 (before the appearance of the first coronavirus cases), the number of European newcomers to work in Cyprus amounts to 318 people and constitutes 19% of all new entrants to the labour market in Cyprus. Of all European new entrants, 55% come from Greece, 8% from Romania, 11% from Bulgaria and another 16% from Great Britain. Of all European newcomers, most say they want to work as employees in services, tourism, salespeople or even as unskilled workers.
