The realization of the Wine Festival, but with a shorter duration and without kiosks, was decided, on Thursday evening, by the Municipal Council of the Limassol Municipality.
The 60th elections of the celebration will find for the first time the public garden without the established kiosks of the four major wineries of the city or other wineries, in compliance with the guidelines given by the Ministry of Health.
With just four votes against, the city council decided that the Wine Festival will take place from 9 to 16 October, instead of 8 to 17 October as originally announced, the Mayor of Limassol, Nikos Nikolaidis, told CNA.
Special arrangements will be made, he continued, to avoid overcrowding, such as the operation of a smaller number of restaurants, while tomorrow there will be communication with the competent Ministry to clarify specific issues.
At this year's Wine Festival, the established exhibitions of cartoons and photography on wine and performances are expected to take place at the municipal garden theatre "Marios Tokas", while there will be only one kiosk for the sale of wine.
In addition, two events are being considered for 10 and 17 October, in a wine village and a commandarohori respectively.
Based on the decisions of the municipal council as well as the clarifications that will be requested on Friday by the Ministry of Health, the Limassol Municipality is expected to issue a relevant announcement.
