A proposal for the renaming of the central square of the municipality of Geroskipou to "Mikis Theodorakis" square is expected to be submitted to the next meeting of the municipal council of Geroskipou by the Mayor Michalis Pavlidis, according to information.
Asked to comment on the information, Mr. Pavlidis said that the body will finally decide on which street or in which square will be given the name of the great Greek Mikis Theodorakis "who took off the Greek music". "It is the least that a local authority can do for such a great artist", concluded Mr. Pavlidis.
Moreover, the municipality of Geroskipou is the first municipality in the District of Pafos, and one of the few in the whole of Cyprus, to acquire a skate track. The track is constructed in the park "Andreas Stylianides". Work on the park is already underway and apart from the skate track the park will have a playground and plenty of greenery.
In the context of the redevelopment of the area, the huge volume of the concrete tower of the water section located within the same piece will now be a pole of attraction since it will be painted with representations from the mythology and history of Geroskipou.
