With a view to the timely shielding of the vulnerable population of the elderly from seasonal infections, in view of the winter, the Ministry of Health proceeds from the beginning of October to vaccinate citizens against Influenza A as a priority.
In a meeting held today under the Minister of Health, Mr. Michalis Hadjipantelas, with the participation of Officials of the Ministry of Health and the Health Insurance Organization, Mr. Hadjipantelas was thoroughly briefed on the procedure to be followed for the vaccination of beneficiaries.
Vaccination against Influenza A will be done in the clinics of Personal Doctors and is expected to begin in the first days of October. The distribution of vaccines to Personal Physicians will be done through the process implemented since last year by the Health Insurance Organization. More information will be announced next week.
At the same time, the Minister was briefed on the timetable for the receipt of a total of 180,000 vaccines ordered, an increase of 25,000 compared to that of 2020. So far, 60,000 vaccines have been received and a 2nd batch of 50,000 vaccines is expected to be received within the week. The remaining quantity will be received in instalments by the end of October.
