The firefighting forces in the Pafos district run and do not arrive from noon. At noon a fire broke out in Stroumbi, which threatened residences, while as soon as it was brought under control and the worst was averted, a new fire broke out in Polis Chrysochous.
The fire in Stroumbi burned five hectares of vegetation, crops, vineyards and various trees. It initially threatened individual residences and a professional premises, before the firefighting forces put it under control about an hour later.
In the area, however, strong firefighting forces continue to operate, due to the winds blowing in the area and causing resurgences.
Shortly before 3.00 in the afternoon, a new fire broke out in an area with a reedbed in Polis Chrysochous, again causing mobilization in the competent services. Four aircraft from the Department of Forests and the Fire Brigade rushed to the area, in order to avoid, due to the strong winds, the extension of the fiery front towards the residential area of the Municipality.
