After Paphos and the ongoing works for the unification of the archaeological sites of Kato Pafos, the neighbouring Municipality of Geroskipou has a similar ambitious plan in the works. As "F" reveals, the archaeological sites in the area of the residential core of the Municipality of Geroskipou and which were for years the big bet of the municipal authority, are now in the process of being studied to implement the project of their unification.
After the completion of the construction works of the connecting road of the tourist area-central core, which was for years the primary target of the Municipality, the unification is now transformed into a main concern of the municipal authority and in this direction moves the study assigned by the Municipality, in order to unify the historical centre of Geroskipou with Kato Vrisi and the Medieval Flourmill, located in the core of the Municipality, but also with the archaeological site of the Seven St George.
Kato Vrysi is an important part of the history and cultural heritage of Geroskipou. The important role that seems to have had in the worship in honour of the goddess Aphrodite and in her Sacred Gardens, is a legacy that the municipal authority is now trying to highlight and exploit on a practical level.
The effort of the Municipality of Geroskipou is the second venture of this type that is launched in the district of Pafos. As it is known, already in the Municipality of Pafos, the effort to unify the archaeological sites of Kato Pafos has resumed, even after many years of problems and delays.
The two neighbouring authorities now have another joint planning, after the joint maintenance works they have undertaken, even if in this case the works on their archaeological sites are done separately.
