153 NEW CASES, FRIDAY

One hundred and fifty-three new cases of COVID-19 were identified on Friday by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 118,723. The positivity rate is 0.24%.

As announced by the Ministry of Health, no deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded today, COVID-19, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 545.

In addition, 89 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 36 are in serious condition, while 74.16% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.

According to the Ministry of Health, 11 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

In the meantime, a total of 64,290 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 545, of which:

  • 348 men (64%), and
  • 197 women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 89 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 36 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 36 patients who are in serious condition, 15 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 19 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail, the situation in the hospitals is the following:

Of the 64,290 diagnoses performed, 8,770 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 55,520 by the antigen rapid test method, 153 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 25 cases from 358 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 15 cases from 5,728 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 21 cases from 2,349 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 6 cases from 204 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 65 cases from 34,658 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 21 cases from 20,862 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 131 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
