147 NEW CASES, TWO DEATH - Sunday

Two people have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 515, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

143 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 46 are in serious condition. 81.82% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.

16 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.

A total of 29,833 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test, of which 147 (positivity rate: 0.49%) of the disease were identified.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concern:

  • A man, aged 52, who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  • A woman, aged 83, who ended up today at Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 515, of which:

  • 333 men (65%), and
  • 182 women (35%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.4 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 143 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 46 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 46 patients who are in serious condition, 15 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 26 in an Increased Care Unit.

Of the 29,833 diagnoses performed today, 4,994 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 24,839 by the antigen rapid test method, 147 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 7 cases from 3,303 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 35 cases from 1,577 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 1 case from 114 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 50 cases from 10,774 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 54 cases from 14,065 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
