100 NEW CASES - SUNDAY

No deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours due to coronavirus, while new positive cases reached 100.

Specifically:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 528.
  • 112 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 45 are in serious condition. 83.93% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
  • 12 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
  • A total of 43,478 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 100 (positivity rate: 0.23%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 117,931.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 528, of which:

  • 339 men (64%), and
  • 189 women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.4 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 112 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 45 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 45 patients who are in serious condition, 20 are intubated in an Intensive Care Unit and 25 in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 43,478 diagnoses made today, 5,370 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 38,108 by the antigen rapid test method, 100 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 1 case from 30 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 7 cases from 3,436 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 20 cases from 1,851 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 28 cases from 14,226 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 44 cases from 23,882 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 35 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 14 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 4 samples taken from the tests in closed structures.
