At the end of the day is the autonomy of the Fire Brigade and today in a meeting at the Ministry of Justice, the date of its implementation is locked.
The procedures so that the Service operates autonomously and does not depend on the Police are in full swing and as explained to "F" its director, Polis Hadjivassiliou, it is expected that on September 8, the Minister of Justice will present a proposal to the Council of Ministers for the activation of the law by which the Fire Brigade is autonomous.
As she explained, in the first week of September the Computer system of the Service is expected to be operational and then its own will be operational:

Also, any recruitments and promotions scheduled from now on, these will be done by the Fire Brigade. Mr. Chatzivassiliou said that the recruitment, promotion or disciplinary proceedings that are currently underway will be completed by the Police. However, the new procedures will be carried out by the Fire Brigade, which changes names of grades, but not persons. The position of its director, who will be called chief of staff, will be upgraded and will be a promotional position, which will be filled by decision of the Minister of Justice following the establishment of a three-member committee consisting of the Director General of the Ministry of Justice as president, an assistant chief of police appointed by Mrs. Drakou after consultation with the Chief of Police and a prosecutor of the Republic who, the Minister will also appoint after consultation with the Attorney General.
The Fire Brigade as an autonomous state service will consist of the following organic positions: Chief Chief, Lieutenant Commander, Lieutenant General, Fire Chief, Lieutenant, Fireman and Firefighter, corresponding to the existing positions. The members of the Fire Brigade up to the rank of firefighter will be appointed, promoted and dismissed by the chief chief of staff with the approval of the Minister of Justice. Before any promotion to the position of pyronomist, sub-chief or fireman, the chief of staff shall seek the advice of the Crisis Council to be established for this purpose and after the approval of the Minister of Justice, he may decide to conduct a written examination by an independent committee set up for this purpose. The Crisis Council will draw up a table annually containing the names of those who are recommended for promotion in order of success.
