PROTEST EVENT REGARDING THE KOILI FIRE TOMORROW IN PAPHOS

Filenews 9 August 2021 by Dora Christodoulou

A protest event is organized tomorrow at 10:00 by the affected residents of Koili, outside the government buildings, for the non-inclusion of their area in the compensation plans, according to the president of K.S. Koili Michalakis Efthymiou.

Mr Efthymiou stressed that the affected residents of Hollow are asking for the same treatment as the other areas affected by the devastating fires and not to divide the fire-affected into categories.

"The recent fires that hit the Tala-Koili area", he also said, "actually destroyed 99% of the economic activity of Koili, such as parcels of plantations, olives, carobs, almond trees and two animal premises. In our area two square kilometres of land were burned and a third of the inhabitants of the area have been affected".

While assurances have been given that we will be compensated, the mukhtar complains, so far no action has been taken by the State in this direction. In Tuesday's protest, Mr. Efthymiou concluded, a memo will be served  regarding the requests of Koili residents to the District Office and the Department of Agriculture.
