PAPHOS - INTERVENTION OF THE PRESIDENT REQUESTED BY PAZAROS FOR LONG OUTSTANDING ROAD WORKS

Filenews 31 August 2021 - by Dora Christodoulou

Despite the several projects constructed in Paphos, the most important of those, that is the upgrading of its main tourist road network, remains outside the state's immediate plans.

This is pointed out by the Member of Parliament for Pafos of DISY, Charalambos Pazaros, in a letter to the President of the Republic, whom he calls on for personal intervention to resolve the serious outstanding issues that exist in this area.

In order for the district of Pafos to remain competitive and continue to develop economically, touristically and structurally, it is necessary to implement the main infrastructure project, which is the upgrading of its main tourist road network, notes Mr. Pazaros, referring to the coastal road of Kato Pafos - Coral Bay and the Pafos airport road to the tourist area of Kato Pafos.

"It is regrettable, especially that the tourist road to Coral Bay is still in conditions that certainly do not belong to a modern, evolving state," he points out. "The plans for the construction of the road have been originally designed for about 35 years and still remain on paper, while there is approval for its implementation."

The non-construction and connection of the entire coastal front that has been pending in the plans for more than three decades, combined with the continuous announcements of the state for the creation and improvement of the road networks of the other provinces, have rightly brought disappointment to the Paphites, says Charalambos Pazaros.

"It is my heartfelt request that you intervene and give instructions, so that the procedures can begin and these two projects can be carried out as soon as possible," the letter to President Anastasiades concludes. "The benefit of the construction of these projects will not only be for my province, but, it will be universal, for our country."
