The Minister of Health, Michalis Hadjipantelas, issued a decree whose regulations come into force on August 26, 2021 at 05.00 a.m. The decree extends the existing measures to deal with the pandemic until September 3, 2021 at 23:59 p.m.
As stated in the decree, by August 23, 2021, 77.6% received the first dose of the vaccine and 72.3% completed the vaccination regimen, but at the same time, from July 29 to August 23, 2021, 10,882 cases were recorded, while the average of those hospitalized daily ranges between 190 to 220 patients per day.
It is added that during the above period, 68 deaths of patients with the final cause of death, COVID-19, were recorded, and that the positivity rate of diagnostic tests for the COVID-19 coronavirus disease is close to 1%.
The ordinance is referred to as the Infectious Diseases (Determination of Measures to Prevent the Spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus) Decree (No. 33) of 2021.
