The FDA gave full approval for Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, as broadcast by U.S. media.
"The public can be very confident that this vaccine meets the high standards for safety, efficacy and quality of manufacture required by the FDA for an approved product," FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock said. Today's milestone brings us one step closer to changing the course of this pandemic in the US."
The U.S. becomes the first country to fully approve the Pfizer vaccine. For his part, chief executive Albert Bula said, according to the AP, that he hopes the decision "will help increase confidence in our vaccine, as vaccination remains the best tool we have to protect lives."
