The death of one more patient and 333 new cases of COVID-19 was announced today Monday by the Ministry of Health in Cyprus.
One person died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 484.
196 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 75 are in serious condition. 82.66% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
16 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
A total of 51,999 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
333 (positivity rate: 0.64%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 111,666.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns a man, aged 71, who ended up on August 22nd at limassol general hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 484, of which:
- 311 men (64%), and
- 173 women (36%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 77 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 196 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 75 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 75 patients who are in serious condition, 38 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 31 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 51,999 diagnoses made today, 6,258 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 45,741 by the antigen rapid test, 333 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 20 cases from 154 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 2 cases from 3,110 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
- 66 cases from 2,611 samples taken through private initiative.
- 11 cases from 262 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 3 cases from 121 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 153 cases from 30,300 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 78 cases from 15,441 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
