ARRESTS OF 14 PERSONS IN TWO WEEKS FOR THEFTS/BURGLARIES

In the last fortnight, the Police arrested 14 people and, by extension, solved 23 cases of burglaries and thefts. What the Police say:

Initially, on August 16th, a 30-year-old man was found and arrested by a Police patrol, in close proximity to a house in Nicosia, which had been burglary shortly before, while in his possession, a backpack containing jewellery, watches and various burglary tools was found. During the examinations it emerged that the suspect was involved in a total of five cases of burglary and theft.

Subsequently, on August 18, a 63-year-old wanted man was identified and arrested in connection with two investigated cases of house burglaries and thefts committed in Limassol, between February 17 and May 29, 2021.

In addition, on August 18, a person aged 38 was also arrested for three cases of burglaries and thefts.

Also, on August 22, four people were arrested for burglary of a warehouse in the Morphou area, committed between the dates of July 3-6, 2021, from where agricultural power tools, saplings and a quantity of fuel oil were stolen.

At the same time, on August 22nd, a 32-year-old man was arrested for eleven cases of burglary and theft, and offences of illegal entry into foreign property and causing malicious damage, committed between the years 2018-2021 in Nicosia district.

Finally, yesterday and today, a total of six persons were arrested in Limassol, for facilitating the interrogations, in connection with an investigated case of house burglary and theft, committed during the period 21-23 August, 2021, where, among other things, a military rifle was stolen.

In addition to the measures taken by the Police on a nationwide basis, we draw for the umpteenth time the attention of the public, to take preventive measures to guard their property so as not to find themselves before negative surprises. We call on the public to contribute to this direction by taking their own measures concerning the safety of their homes, but also the protection and safekeeping of their property.

In general, citizens are encouraged to be vigilant and to cooperate closely with the Police. In case they detect any suspicious movement, they should immediately inform the nearest Police Station or contact the Citizen's Hotline at 1460.
