Five people died from COVID-19 disease and 484 new cases of coronavirus announced today 11 August by the Ministry of Health.
As stated in the communication, 264 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 92 of whom are in serious condition. 84.10% of nurses have no history of vaccination.
A total of 54,249 disease detection tests have been carried out with the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
484 (positivity rate: 0.89%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 107,485.A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The five people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Man, aged 75, who ended up on August 10 at Limassol General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 96, who ended up on August 10 at Limassol General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 67, who died on August 10. The death was reported by a private physician.
- Man, aged 91, who ended up today at Nicosia General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 49, who ended up today in the Intensive Care Unit of Limassol General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 452, of which:
- 294 men (65%), and
- 158 women (35%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.1 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 264 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 92 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 92 patients in serious condition, 51 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 37 are in an Increased Care Unit.
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 54,249 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,726 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 47,523 using the antigen rapid test, 484 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 50 cases from 384 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 6 cases of 2,900 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 81 cases from 3,132 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 2 cases from 219 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 223 cases from 32,094 samples examined using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 122 cases from 15,429 samples tested using the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 91 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
