One person has died from COVID-19, the Ministry of Health announced today, and 213 new cases were identified. Analytically:
- One person died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 497.
- 152 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 59 are in serious condition. 82.9% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 14 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
- A total of 47,722 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 213 (positivity rate: 0.45%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 113,069.
Today's results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The one person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19, concerns:
- A man, aged 85, who ended up today at the General Hospital of Famagusta.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 497, of which:
- 323 men (65%), and
- 174 women (35%).
The average age of those voted by the disease is 77 years.
B. Hospitalized:
In total, 152 covid-19 patients are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 59 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 59 patients who are in serious condition, 24 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and 31 in an Increased Care Unit.

Of the 47,722 diagnoses made today, 5,919 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 41,803 by the antigen rapid test, 213 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:
- 27 cases from 266 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
- 3 cases from 2,747 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 40 cases from 2,477 samples taken through private initiative.
- 8 cases from 105 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 2 cases from 166 samples taken as part of a sample check at the Port.
- 82 cases from 27,219 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 51 cases from 14,584 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 150 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 8 samples taken as part of a closed structure check.
