WALK IN VACCINATION CENTRES wef 15 July

 Filenews 14 July 2021

The Ministry of Health has been operating walk-in vaccination centres since Thursday, July 15, with the aim of facilitating citizens' access to vaccination. Walk-in centres are a practice already in place in other countries abroad and aim to strengthen the vaccination effort.

In Cyprus, these centres will operate in all Provinces and will be housed in the existing Vaccination Centres, in order to serve citizens who wish to be vaccinated but have not scheduled an appointment in advance through the Vaccination Portal. For the time being, people who are beneficiaries of the GHS will be able to be vaccinated in the walk-in centres with a possible future extension to cover both non-beneficiaries or non-GSIs. Vaccinations will involve new vaccinations, i.e. people who will be vaccinated with the 1st dose of the vaccine and not vaccination with the 2nd dose and will be kept in order of priority according to the turnout of citizens (practice "first-come, first-served").

In particular, Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine will currently be given to walk-in centres. Opening hours will be from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the following locations:

  • Nicosia Province: Latsia Health Centre
  • Limassol Province: Linopetra Health Center
  • Larnaca Province: Port
  • Paphos Province: Paphos General Hospital
  • Famagusta Province: Famagusta General Hospital

It is underlined that the appointments of persons scheduled through the Vaccination Portal are not affected and will be handled normally at the Vaccination Center, on the day and time arranged by each beneficiary.

It is stressed that beneficiaries will necessarily have to provide proof of identification (identity card, passport, Foreigner Registration Card, etc.).
