SCAM WITH SMS MESSAGES, POSING AS COURIERS

 Filenews 11 July 2021

The Electronic Crime Sub-Directorate invites the public to pay special attention, for protection against SMS messages that pretend to be transport, sending and receiving packages (courier).

SMS messages include an electronic link that refers to a fake website of the courier company and informs the recipient that for the receipt of his package, he must enter his personal details and the details of his bank card, for payment of a small amount of money as a debt.

By placing bank card details, perpetrators can use them to extract any available funds.

The public is asked to be particularly careful in these malicious updates. Each user is asked to confirm the authenticity of the sender and the website.

If citizens have already placed their bank card details, they are encouraged to contact their bank directly and if an amount has been stolen, to make a complaint to the Police Station in the area where they live.
