Increasingly serious dimensions are acquired by the phenomenon of burglaries and thefts in Paphos even at times of the day when citizens move or are inside their premises, such as in the mornings and afternoons. Information from the "F" shows the Police at this time "running and not enough time" to cover the increasing reports and complaints of burglars hitting even at peak traffic times.
In the authorities there are specific complaints of citizens about people who were apparently moving suspiciously in neighbourhoods of Paphos and communities of the peri-urban area, while in the following days in those same areas there were indeed complaints of citizens for thefts from their homes. In the last few days alone, many incidents of people moving suspiciously in certain neighbourhoods with foreign mansions have been reported by residents and passing motorists in the Tala area. There have even been reports from citizens that despite the fact that these people themselves saw that some were watching them, they nevertheless risked continuing to monitor houses that they apparently felt there was no one inside.
In one case, specific people were also seen in a neighbouring district the next day, where a Russian resident reported the break-in of his home and the theft of large sums of money and jewellery from it.
Similar movements of suspects are reported en masse, according to our information, these days to the Police, with citizens now pressing for the more active and continuous presence of the force on the streets.
NOTE - If you have any doubts about anyone or any vehicle you see, please ring the Police - if you can take a photo on your mobile phone. Remember please - a part registration number is no use to the Police - ideally they need a full registration number and colour, make and model of the vehicle so they can check if the vehicle is legit or is on fake plates.
Remember too, if you are sat at the back of the house, please ensure doors/windows at the front of the house are secured. Too often entry is gained via an unlocked door or window whilst the occupants are in another part of the house.
