KAMARES - FIRE DAMAGED TREES

Following the recent fire in Kamares, if you have fire damaged trees, please note the following:

1  The Forestry Department will not remove any trees if they are outside a Forest area – and Tala is outside a Forest area

2  If trees have been fire damaged on your personal property, you need to apply to the Forestry Department for permission to remove them  – the form is PD201N and is available on  http://www.moa.gov.cy/moa/fd/fd.nsf/1E3133F5E130AF33C2257D1C00411BA9/$file/%CE%A4.%CE%94.%20201%CE%9D.pdf,   It might be helpful if people can attach a photo of fire damaged tree[s] to their application in case the species cannot be identified.

The form is only available in Greek as far as I can see and needs to be completed and sent to:  E-mail: director@fd.moa.gov.cy     For information: Tel: 22 805511  Fax:  22 805542

Once permission is granted, it is then the responsibility of the homeowner to speak to their insurer to see if there is cover under their insurance policy, then arrange removal and disposal of the tree.

3  If a tree is fire damaged in the pavement or on a green area, then it is the responsibility of Tala Council to apply to the Forestry Department and subsequently remove/dispose of once permission is given.    Tala Council has no obligation to attempt recovery of fire damaged trees in inaccessible areas, ie ravines.

If residents would like to email the KVHA secretary [kvhasecretary@gmail.com] or myself on toffee@cytanet.com.cy with an address of where fire damaged trees in pavements/green areas are and, if possible, either a photo or note of the species, then this would speed up the process.
