The Ministry of Health has received information on the results of sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 (sequencing) strains in samples of positive individuals, which were sent for processing to a specialized laboratory abroad through the ECDC programme.
In particular, sequencing was successful and the variant of the virus was detected in 74 samples. The analysis concerns samples from all Provinces, with sampling dates from 5 to 18 July.
All 47 samples [12-18 July] identified the delta variant (Indian strain).
In aggregate, the following table shows the detection rates of mutations in samples examined by both ECDC and Cyprus, with sampling dates from 9 March to 18 July 2021:
