The Digital Security Authority, the Cyprus Police (Electronic Crime Sub-Directorate), the Central Bank of
Cyprus and the Cyprus Banking Association join forces, know-how and experience in a joint information
campaign aimed at creating a shield of protection against those who use electronic methods to deceive
citizens and/or organisations.
The campaign, called ASPIS (INFORMATION SECURITY AND INFORMATION SECURITY), aims to inform
citizens about the usual practices they practice deftly, in order to gain access to their personal data and
bank accounts or to involve them in false procedures for the purpose of extracting funds. Information is
addressed to all citizens, especially those groups, which are more frequent and easier targets.
This communication is the first joint message from the cooperating bodies, appealing to the media to help
implement the information campaign aimed at protecting citizens from online fraud.
Electronic transactions and electronic communication are an integral part of the daily lives of the
majority of citizens and their protection against those who attack the security of electronic transactions
and communications is of paramount importance.
Together, we can protect our transactions, our private communication, our personal data and our property.
