The Council of Ministers remained steadfast in the decision to abolish the rapid test programme for unvaccinated citizens from 1 August, despite yesterday's suggestions from the Commissioner of Administration and the different recommendations of EES scientists.
The decision excludes:
- Minors up to 12 years of age who currently do not have the option of vaccination against COVID-19.
- Minors aged 12 to 17 years, if their parents/legal guardians do not consent to vaccination.
- Persons aged 16 years and over who cannot be vaccinated, with documentation, eg a medical certificate confirming this. Categories of citizens who cannot be vaccinated due to medical problems will be adopted on the recommendation of the Cyprus Medical Association and relevant instructions will be issued to citizens and health professionals.
- Pregnant women, with the necessary presentation of a medical certificate by the gynaecologist, who assures them that vaccination is not recommended.
- People who have been vaccinated with the 1st dose of the vaccine and for the three-week period that must be tested as a condition for SafePass. For verification purposes, the Vaccination Card should be presented.
- People who have completed their vaccination regimen but wish to undergo tests for health monitoring purposes or for other reasons. It is understood that the Vaccination Card must be presented.
- Finally, according to Friday's Cabinet decisions (30/7), citizens holding a CERTIFICATE of recovery from COVID-19 within the last 180 days are entitled to a free rapid antigen test.
